Exclusive Excerpt:
“I’m sorry, but Cherub’s here to collect me and I must go.” Julia wrapped one hand around Tavish’s forearm and the blue haze of frustration in his aura receded. “You must believe me when I say we’re no’ mated.”
“A mated male knows when he meets his chosen one.” A look of longing flashed across his face as he lifted a lock of her hair and curled it around his finger. “Your hair is so soft and silky, and you look beautiful in your gown.”
“And you are a charmer with your touching words.” She let go of him and walked from the bathroom, through his chamber and out his open bedroom door. The passageway, lit with bright overhead lighting led toward a stairwell at the far end. She strode along the burgundy and blue runner as Tavish jogged in beside her.
“Julia, I don’t need the full moon to guide me to my chosen one, not when being near you tells me all I need to know. I’ve also no idea why our auras aren’t tugging toward each other’s as you’ve said, but that matters little to me.” He lifted a challenging brow. “Do you not feel anything toward me?”
“I dinnae have the right to speak of it if I do.” He was taken, and she would never come between a soul bound pair.
“That’s not what I asked.” He caught her hand, slowed her step then pressed her back against the wall. Head dipped, he touched his nose to hers, and murmured, “My desire for you is growing, in leaps and bounds. All I want to do is hold you, kiss you, to discover everything there is to learn about you.”
“The only thing you need to learn is that I’m not yours.” She fluttered a hand over her racing heartbeat. Those words sounded wrong even as she uttered them and they clashed inside her, made her cringe. “Let me go, Tavish.”
“That is still the wrong answer.” Smoothly, he slid his hand under her hair and palmed the bare skin of her nape, his gaze moving over the sensitive area where her shoulder and neck met. He rubbed one thumb over the spot. “I want to bite you, to mark you as mine, just as those mated pairs in my clan do.”
“’Tis an anomaly for sure.” She touched his neck in return, right over his thumping pulse point.
“It’s no anomaly, but the early stages of the bond taking form.” He eased closer, brushed his nose through her hair and nuzzled her neck. “Since the moment we met, I’ve struggled to let you out of my sight. When you walked into the bathroom and away from me, all I wanted to do was tear that door down so we were no longer separated. Now I’m about to take you downstairs to Cherub and Kirk when it’s the last thing I want to do. You are mine.”

“I can’t believe I did that.” I stole another look at the floorboards I’d warped with my burgeoning fire skill.
“I can’t believe you ’pathed me.” Guy smiled and nuzzled my hair.
“What are you doing?” Butterflies abounded in my belly. “I mean, don’t do that.”
“Mmm, you smell like sunshine, and your hair, it’s a living flame with these strands of gold ablaze within the red.”
“It’s too curly.”
“I like curly.”
“We’re getting rather close, Guy.”
“Close is dangerous.” He pulled back and looked into my eyes. “Sorry, gotta kiss you. Now.”
His mouth stole over mine and whatever thoughts I had scattered, except for one. I wanted this kiss as much as he did. This moment couldn’t be denied, so I kissed him as deeply as he kissed me. I stroked his silky black hair. “We should have done this sooner,” I mumbled against his lips. “So good.”
“Hell, yes.” He deepened our kiss.
I was lost in the sweet taste of him. My heart soared and my soul called to his. More. He was my mate, and it wasn’t a bond to be broken. Except, damn it, we had.
“We should stop,” he growled as he pulled away.
“Absolutely. What were you thinking?” Unable to help myself, I traced his full lips with a finger.

In New Zealand it’s autumn and the leaves are falling from the trees by the masses. A total opposite to most of you. Ever wondered though what spring is like in Kiwi land? I can tell you, with our twelve million sheep against only four million people, it looks a lot like this. Happy lambies everywhere, and jumping for joy. 🙂
For this spring hop, I’m going to join you in the lead up to your summer by bringing you a taste of my recent release WITNESS PURSUIT. This is book one in my Bodyguards series, of which I’m currently writing book two. Let me just grab a glass of water, because the cover coming up is quite hot. Witness Pursuit is set in the beautiful islands of Fiji, a short three hour flight from NZ.
Here’s a short sexy excerpt to keep heating us all up. (Caution: Quite hot. Grab yourself a glass of water too.)
Lydia’s chest tightened. Tyler looked dangerously gorgeous. “You gonna hop into bed? Or should I call you Mr. I-don’t-want-to-stick-it.” Yeah, that should hit a nerve.
“You’ll want to take that back.”
Lazing on her side, she played her fingers over the blue spread. His gaze narrowed and his hands flexed against his thighs. She liked. “Why? Because you’re hoping I don’t get comfortable and this isn’t a long night? Oooh, I’m shaking. You better not sleep naked, because that might really scare me into squealing all my secrets.”
“That’s it.” He let out a fierce growl, which sent a shiver of approval through her. “Close your eyes if you’re the sensitive sort.”
“Not a chance. This is your room after all. Do what you’d like.”
He yanked the silver buckle release on his belt then dropped his pants in one swift move. Next, he jerked his shirt over his head and she was left with the sight of smooth black briefs covering a bulky package she was certain was on the rise.
“Last chance.” He slid his fingers under the band of his underwear.
“I’m still good.” When he dropped his underwear and kicked them away, her lips went numb and she tried to rub some life into them. Talk about hot, not to mention that rise was now a full salute. Of a very grand fashion.
“So I have to get naked for you to pay attention?” He shoved the covers back then slid in and hooked an arm around her waist. He tumbled her into him. “Now what were you saying about Mr. I-don’t-want-to-stick-it?”
“I was wrong. Totally wrong.”

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Interestingly, we actually have a saint, a priest from Rome known as Valentinus, to thank for Valentine’s Day. Back in the day, and I’m talking around the fifth century, Valentinus was a bit of a rebel. The Roman Emperor Claudius II didn’t believe married men would make good soldiers, and he banned his top guns from getting hitched, but Valentinus was sneaky.
This saint, with his amethyst ring engraved with the cupid symbol, performed marriages for those soldiers who wished them. Then to remind them to remain faithful to their wives when out celebrating a winning battle, he cut heart shapes from parchment and gifted them to them.
So, what does Valentine’s Day mean to you? Do you go all out and present flowers? Buy chocolates or send a card? For me, I love to give heart-shaped chocolates wrapped in red foil to my closest. Just love it.
To continue spreading some yummy sweetness, I’m going to share a new snippet from HIGHLANDER’S CAPTIVE, one in which the hero has just captured his heroine and stolen her away. I’d also like to thank everyone who’s bought a copy. Highlander’s Captive has shot into Amazon’s Bestsellers Charts in the UK and the US. During the past month since release, this novella has made the #1 slot within the Scottish Medieval Romances and Historical categories several times. I’m simply buzzing.
Wind whipped through Ivor’s shoulder-length hair, drying it into a rakish look. As he held the ropes, his biceps bulged and his every muscle strained to control the wind power he’d harnessed in the skiff’s tight sail.
Oh, Julia should turn her gaze away. Only, so impressive. A warrior of great strength.
Mayhap she should enjoy this since she didn’t have a choice. She’d certainly never ridden in a boat moving at such speed that ’twas half out of the water. Awed by his ability, she peeked over his arm. The coastline was but a blur. Her heart near jumped out of her chest and she clutched him tighter. “How fast are we going?”
“Faster than usual, but the crosswinds will ease off soon.”
Plastered against the hard planes of his body, she almost hoped they didn’t. She smiled and lifted her face to the sky, allowing the moment to expand. This was life, and far more interesting than the confines of Dunvegan Castle, not that she’d ever tell Ivor that.
She might be his captive, but not for long.

Today I’m chatting about all things Scottish in celebration of Burns’ Night. January is a cold month in Scotland, and to remain cheerful, on January 25th the Scottish celebrate the poetry of their bard, Robert Burns. They pipe in the haggis, which traditionally means the chef carries it in while the piper plays an appropriate tune. The haggis is sliced open with the finely honed edge of a ceremonial dirk (though any old knife will apparently do.) Then the meal is served with copious amounts of whisky, allowing the festivities to flow. They consider the life of the man behind the poems, they make toasts, recite poetry, and sing and dance. After all this revelry, they stagger home with their bellies full, hearts renewed, and the knowledge that they only have another eleven months of rain to go in the year. 🙂 Yep, the Scottish are delightfully cheery on this night.
To continue spreading this cheeriness, I’m going to share a sexy snippet from HIGHLANDER’S CAPTIVE, one which should heat you up and curl your toes.
The urge to lay Julia across the bench of his skiff and make her his infused every inch of Ivor’s body. He kissed her, and her soft moans incited his need to strip her and ravish her senseless.
He should have his hand on the rudder and staying their course, not sliding his fingers along the silky flesh of her calves in an attempt to lift her skirts. She deserved more. A bed for starters, and following that, a night of endless pleasure.
“We should stop.” At least he hadn’t beached his boat in the dark.
“Not yet.” She clutched his head and brought his mouth to hers. Her hungry kiss shot craving to his groin.
“Any more and I’ll never stop.” He lowered his mouth to her neck and sucked on her skin. Hell, her breasts heaved within the tight confines of her bodice. Bad move. He needed to divert his gaze.
“Touch me,” she whispered.
