MR. RIGHT NOW
The wrong guy might be just right for her.
When her celebrity boyfriend of three years dumps her and claims he’s now gay, unlucky-in-love author Casey Cash decides to get out of New York. A cruise seems like the perfect escape: everyone onboard will be locked away from television, newspapers and internet gossip pages, allowing her some much needed relaxation. There’s only one problem: her oh-so-helpful agent has hired a male escort for her…and a big NYC paper has sent a pesky reporter on-board, vowing to get the dirt.
Mason Drury doesn’t want to write an expose on Casey, but he’s in a bind. After a source flipped on him, he’s persona non grata at his newspaper. Celebrity trash or not, this story will put him back on top. Too bad he finds himself breaking the first rule of reporting by getting attached to his subject and letting bias influence his story.
Casey’s much more interested in sexy Mason than the annoying escort who’s bunking in her room. Mason might even have romantic potential if she can shake her well-meaning-but nosey-fans. Oh, and that reporter. She’s got to avoid him at all costs…
CONTENT WARNING: A smattering of sass, sex and a heaping happily ever after.
A Lyrical Press Contemporary Romance
A huge welcome to Kristina Knight. I’m so glad you’ve dropped by, Kristina. I’m going to start with a fun rapid fire question round.
– Nicknames? – So many! Kritti is my fave because my nieces gave it to me when they couldn’t pronounce the S-T part of my name so well.
– Where do you live? – I live on the NorthCoast of Ohio with RadioMan, bebe and Angel-the-dog.
– Have you ever traveled abroad? – Yes! Primarily to the Caribbean – love it there!
– Tea, coffee, or hot chocolate? – Iced tea or hot chocolate…depending on my mood. And the weather.
– Favorite dessert? – Anything chocolate. Or my mom’s secret-recipe Red Velvet Cake. YUM!
– Dog or cat? – dog, I like to be loved.
– Beach or skiing? – beach! Especially if a cabana boy is included.
– What’s your favorite time of the day to write? – I can write any time of the day…but I like the words best that come in the afternoon…or late at night when the rest of the house is asleep.
– Do you write on holiday? – Definitely! I try to space holidays so I’m not on a deadline, but I usually have a project going so I’ll take an hour or two to work on a scene or character sketch. Or just write down ideas.
– Last book you read? – I just finished two gothic novellas – Mugs & Monasteries and Sefton Manor by Cait O’Sullivan…fun, chilling reads!
– Plotter or pantser? – Pantlotter, thank you very much. I usually have an outline of where I want to go with a story. But the story elements get moved around or changed altogether before I’m through.
– What three things would you take to a desert island? – RadioMan, bebe … and a barbecue grill
Now, let’s get to some grittier questions, Kristina.
– Tell us what started you on your journey to being a writer? – I’ve always been a writer, in one form or another. My mom and grandmother are the credits, I think, because they read to me all the time and when I told them stories, they listened. I would rewrite the endings to stories as a kid, joined the school newspaper as a teenager and actually went into journalism for a while before I started writing fiction full time.
– If you decided not to be a writer, what would your other dream job be? And why? – Hmmm…a travel reporter, I think. Because I would still be writing but I’d also get paid to travel. Who doesn’t like to travel?
– Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world? – I like where I am. For now. Someday, I’d like to live in a tropical paradise, but we have the best of all worlds here – hot beaches in the summer, blizzards in the winter. It’s a fabulous place to raise a family.
– I’d love to hear a random fact about yourself, one that would surprise us all. If you don’t mind, can you spill? – I believe in ghosts. Full on. Not evil ghosts, although I suppose if I believe in friendly Caspers I have to believe in ghouls, too. But I’ve had a couple of very real experiences with loved ones who have passed on. So, I believe the ones we love can reach out to us from the other side.
– Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? – Don’t stop and don’t sell yourself short. We all have real life issues and roadblocks in our path. The key is to find a way around the roadblocks and deal with real life issues and keep pressing on.
– What are you working on now? – I just wrapped up a new trilogy that my agent and I are shopping around (hopefully I’ll have news soon on that). And this week I’m starting a brand new project, if I could just get my characters to agree on a starting point…
Here’s an excerpt from Mr. Right Now to whet your appetite:
Casey needed things to slow down. And she desperately wanted whatever was happening to speed up. She didn’t know who Mason was. Didn’t know if he was the reporter or just some random guy. Her head said he was the reporter. Why else would he have hit on her so hard from the time she came on board? It had to be part of his plan.
But then, why would a reporter waste time talking to a random woman about her life? Setting her up with another harmless guy who would bolster her self-confidence and help her bounce back from rejection. That was something a nice guy would do. Casey wanted badly for Mason to be a nice guy. Just for a little bit.
Then she’d go back to the craziness of Tyler and figuring out who the reporter was. How to avoid him and save what was left of her reputation.
Surely her future could spare her a few more minutes with Mason Drury.
“What’s your plan?” he asked, his eyes intent on hers.
What was her plan? She knew she had one. It was a good one, too. What was it again?
He pressed his lips to hers, and she didn’t care about plans or who was following whom.
One little kiss.
What could it hurt?

Releasing December 2013
Yay. I just received the cover for HUNTER. You have to check it out and let me know what you think. I was certainly stunned. This cover blew me away. I just love seeing the heroines in my Magio-Earth series come to life in such an amazing way. I know these characters inside out, but to see them take the stage on their own cover is the best feeling in the world. (This cover art was done by the extremely talented Renee Rocco of Lyrical Press.)
HUNTER is a Magio-Earth novella which forms part of my YA/NA Fantasy Romance series. And if you’d like to check out all my awesome covers in one spot, here’s the link: https://joannewadsworth.com/books/
Here’s Hunter’s cover and blurb. I hope you enjoy.
HUNTER
To love and protect…across worlds.
Nineteen-year-old Lieska Alura, a Dralion warrior from the planet Magio, calls an Australian Outback station her home away from home. Hounded by her skilled hunter senses, she is on a mission to track down one man, her soul-bound mate.
Protector Cole Cyrano, of Peacio holds the hunter skill. He’s driven by his soul’s demand to find his mated one, a woman he knows is his enemy. Dralion and Peacio are at war, and he decides to ignore his soul’s call. Except Lieska arrives, and during a fierce training session in his protectors’ arena, he discovers his mate holds the same skill as him. Now nothing can keep the hunter from the hunt, and he’s drawn into an unexpected chase as bushfires rage across his mate’s Outback station.
Cole joins Lieska and aids her in driving the station’s cattle toward the mighty river. And the chase is on…against both nature and each other. Can the mated pair find their place together in a world at war?
A Young Adult/New Adult Fantasy Romance.
HUNTER will release in just a few weeks, so keep your eye out for it.
All of the books in this series are stand alone and feature different heroines and heroes, so you can read any one you like first. The series is connected through characters and the worlds of Magio and Earth, and I’ve made certain your favourite characters pop up so you’ll never miss the chance of catching up with them along the way.
For fans of this series, I’d love to share an interesting tidbit about HUNTER. You first meet the heroine Lieska Alura in Warrior, and Lieska received her name from a woman I’ve never met, but who lives in the same town as me in New Zealand. How did that happen? I’d just gotten a nasty stone chip on my windscreen, dropped into the glass smith and the man replacing it mentioned how his wife, Lieska, had read Protector, the first book in my series, and loved it. I wasn’t aware the locals knew me that well. A really nice surprise. Yep, I grinned with delight. Then I couldn’t help but notice how unusual his wife’s name was. I asked him about her name and where it had come from. He said she’d never met another person with it since it’s so rare, and the origin of her name was listed as unknown.
Ahh, now a beautiful, unique name with an unknown origin sounded like a temptation to me. Those were the kinds of names I was after for the fantasy world I’d created. I told him her name was perfect for my warrior hunter, and if his wife needed an origin for her name, it was now founded on the planet Magio as “hunter, tracker, pursuer.”
To continue with that story, a couple of months ago I got another stone chip, and dropped in to chat to the same glass smith. I mentioned to him his wife’s namesake was now getting her own book. Lieska was no longer a supporting character. He was thrilled for his wife, and said his Lieska would be over the moon to hear that. I’ll certainly be dropping by the glass smith now I have the cover to ensure his wife gets a copy. I really hope she likes it as much as I do.
Okay, that’s me for today. I wish you all a wonderful weekend. Don’t forget if you want to drop me a comment, make sure you do. I love, love hearing from you guys. (I really can’t say that enough.)
