Historical Scottish Time Travel Romance

The legend of the vampire comes alive.

Some call Cairstine one of the dark fae. She holds the ability to morph and can shift into any creature she desires, whether shrinking to the size of a bat, extending to the width of a dragon, or anything in between. She hasn’t walked in daylight since her childhood years, has taken her nourishment by feeding from her immortal sisters, but as one of the ancient fae, it’s now time for her to come up against her greatest adversary. Her fated mate.

Liam is his clan’s doctor, a warrior shifter of immense strength, and when Cairstine arrives from the year 1211 into his twenty-first century time, he’s riveted by her. She holds one of the rarest of their people’s fae abilities and her immortal soul needs healing. Her desire to embrace the dark is drawing her deeper and deeper into despair and now he is left with no choice. He needs to bring his mate’s soul back into the light, or else she’ll destroy them both.

Here’s a Tasty Excerpt from Highlander’s Courage

“You need to feed now. Wrist or neck? I’m not taking no for an answer.” Liam pulled a wheeled chair forward, shucked his lab coat and jerked up the sleeves of his blue button-down shirt before wrenching his collar to one side and sending the top two buttons pinging off. “Your choice.”

“Your wrist. Open one of your veins.” If Cairstine didn’t accept his help, she’d get worse. Perhaps even as worse as Mairi had gotten. She yanked the lines from her chest, freed herself from the monitor and toppled onto his lap. “Oomph, sorry. Legs not working.”

“I understand.” His claws sliced out and he clenched one fist, pumped his hand, and stabbed his prominent wrist vein. “Take whatever you need from me.”

“Thank you.” She wrapped her mouth around his stab wound and jerked as his lifeforce flowed down her parched throat. Her nipples tightened, and a tingle radiated out from the sensitive tips. Oh my, he tasted incredibly delicious, far richer and warmer and vibrant than he had any right to taste. Pulling the laces of her bodice together as best as she could, she continued to suckle madly.

“Take your time. I’m not going anywhere.” Soothing words as he tucked her in closer.

Feeding even faster, she leaned her head against his shoulder and curled into his warmth. His heat swamped her after the bitter cold which had taken her.

He cupped the back of her head, whispered in her ear, “I can’t believe you stopped breathing. I’ve never heard of that happening to an ancient before.”

No, he wouldn’t have, not when it wasn’t possible.

Except it had happened to Mairi, right before she had Turned. Not that she’d ever told another soul that, or recorded the information in the tomes. Brief notes only had been made.

“You’ve gone quiet.” Liam tightened one arm around her waist. “Has my vein closed over? It does that rather quickly whenever I’m bagging my own blood for the supply I like to keep on hand in the blood-donation fridge. My shifter healing kicks in rather fast, I’m afraid. Try my chest, if you wish. There’s a larger vein there that remains open longer, right over my heart.”

“Thank you.” She yanked his collar wider, clamped her mouth over his left pec and sank her teeth deep. More blood flowed into her mouth, crashed over her tongue and sizzled along her senses. His rich essence hit her like a rampaging river, so iron-rich and delectable.
